Introduction
DevPost ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and tool located at www.devpost.dev (the "Service").
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Service. By accessing and using DevPost, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Client-Side Processing: DevPost is designed to process all your content locally in your web browser. We do NOT send your pasted content, project names, or generated posts to any server. The transformation from README/changelog to LinkedIn posts happens entirely on your machine using JavaScript running in your browser.
No User Accounts: We do not require you to create an account, log in, or provide personal information to use DevPost. You can use the tool completely anonymously.
Local Storage: We use your browser's localStorage to save only your theme preference (light/dark mode) and draft content you're actively working on. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
2. Third-Party Services
Google Fonts: DevPost uses Google Fonts for typography. When you load the page, your browser makes requests to fonts.googleapis.com. Google may collect limited analytics about font usage. See Google's privacy practices at https://policies.google.com/privacy
Google AdSense: DevPost uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads relevant to your interests. Google Ads uses DoubleClick cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites.
Google Analytics (Optional): If implemented, Google Analytics collects anonymous usage statistics to help us improve the website. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting https://www.google.com/settings/ads or https://www.aboutads.info/choices
3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
DevPost uses the following cookies and tracking technologies:
- localStorage: For storing your theme preference and draft content
- Google AdSense Cookies: For serving targeted advertisements
- Session Cookies: Temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser
Most web browsers allow some control of cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, visit www.allaboutcookies.org
4. How We Use Your Information
Since we collect minimal data, we use it only for:
- Providing the DevPost tool functionality (client-side processing)
- Storing your preferences and draft work in localStorage
- Displaying relevant advertisements (Google AdSense)
- Improving website performance and user experience
- Responding to inquiries submitted through our contact form (email only)
5. Data Security
Your data is secure because it never leaves your browser. We do not store your content on any server. When you close your browser or clear localStorage, your data is permanently removed from local storage. No one but you has access to the information you process with DevPost.
6. Your Privacy Rights
